Services to Refugees

Refugee Services is a program operated by NEWCAP, INC that provides social and employment services to all Refugees in Brown County. The overall mission of the program includes economic self-sufficiency, family stability and community integration of the refugees and their families residing in Brown County. Services focus on a broad range of follow-up and supportive services in a sensitive and culturally appropriate manner. Employment services include: Case Management, Assessment, Resume Writing, Job Readiness and Motivation Training, Job Development and Job Coaching and Retention. Call 920-448-7206 for details.

Refugee Business Development

NEWCAP Inc operates the Refugee Services Microenterprise Program funded by the Federal government. Assistance is provided FREE to qualified refugee enterpreneurs. This program will help with Financial Plans and Feasibility, Marketing Feasibility, Sales and Business plans, Other Financing, Licenses and Permits, etc. The Refugee Services Microenterprise Program will help you explore the feasibility of your business idea before you spend lots of time and money on a lease or other contract. Individual Development Account (IDA) Program

NEWCAP Inc operates the Individual Development Account Program combines financial education and a match on savings to help you reach your asset goals of home ownership, business ownership or higher education for yourself or a dependant age 18 or older. Individuals who have a household income up to 200% of the federal poverty level may participate in this program. Also, assets cannot exceed $10,000 excluding the value of one home and one car per family. Savings must come from earned income. Migrant Services

This bureau administers the migrant labor laws and assures that all migrant housing in the State of Wisconsin is free from health and safety concerns. The bureau provides technical assistance and enforcement of migrant labor laws with respect to work agreements and labor contractors. It also provides processing of alien labor requests, monitoring of migrant worker access to Wagner-Peyser labor exchange services and provision of staff support to the Migrant Labor Council. United Migrant Opportunity Services (UMOS)

UMOS provides employment and training services to migrant and seasonal farm workers and other at risk/under served target populations throughout the State of Wisconsin. UMOS provides temporary shelter, food, clothing and other services and assists those who wish to break out of the welfare environment and into a stable work situation. UMOS provides translation services needed to obtain employment and training opportunities.

UMOS is a private non-profit corporation which advocates for migrants and seasonal farmworkers, Hispanics and other economically disadvanaged people to help themselves improve their economic well-being, their education their health and their housing so that they may realize their potential.
