Job Search Support Workshops
August 2nd Topic: “Representing Your Resume": Job seekers have a tendency to try to let their resume "do all their talking for them". Employers expect job seekers represent the resume and to give a realistic view of their work skills, abilities, and potential. Often times, the job seeker in the interview is not the job seeker on the resume that the employer really wanted. Learn how to get the most out of your resume and impress an employer.
August 9th Topic: “Resume Development and Custom Fine Tuning". ". Develop or custom fine tune a resume that you can confidently present to an employer. Be sure that when you are creating or editing your resume, you can back it up in words, examples, and image.
August 16th Topic: “Soft Skills in the Workplace”. Alexia Wood, Forward Service Job Development Team Member, will present skills that employers look for. Some of these skills are directly related to the job and job performance. Job seekers often overlook or forget about the other skills that employers look for. These skills are a reflection of the job seekers' individual make up, personality, or behavior. Show these needed skills!
August 23rd Topic: “Customizing From Job Orders”: To get noticed, job seekers must take a customized approach to their job search. Learn how to identify exactly what the employer is looking for and customize your applications, cover letters, and resumes. Learn customization skills using the Job Center of Wisconsin and other employment site job orders.
August 30th Topic: “Fall Shopping Tips”: U.W. Extension: Jan Safranski and Mary Jo Liesch. Fall brings about some fantastic food opportunities that won't last long. Get creative ideas to add some tasty foods to your menus and diet. Vitality is a result of eating right.
