Welcome to the Veteran's unit of the Brown County Job Center. We appreciate the contributions and sacrifices each Veteran has made to our country.
The Veterans Placement Unit offers assistance to help employers find and fill their job openings with Veterans. Veterans of the Armed Forces typically present unique work characteristics that employers seek in job applicants: discipline, the capacity to listen and follow instructions, training in an occupational specialty, work experience gained in different locations and situations, and a commitment towards a mission.
The Veterans Unit seeks to build and maintain positive working relationships with area employers. We will help an employer clarify their recruitment needs and post their job listings on the JobNet system. Job listings are then viewed by Job Service staff and job seekers for applicant referrals in all the Job Service offices and through our JobNet Internet site.
We will visit an employer to develop unique training programs for disabled veterans engaged in the VA’s program of vocational rehabilitation. Such programs may include: on the job training, apprenticeship training and special employer incentive hiring opportunities. Costs to train disabled veterans can be reimbursed so the employer does not incur major expenses and gains a well-qualified employee.
Veteran Unit representatives are available to participate in local employer education programs to promote the hiring of veterans and for Federal contractors to meet their regulatory obligations for promoting and hiring of Veterans.
Many employers have found Veteran referral to be an excellent source for workers. The Green Bay Job Service Veterans Unit has three placement specialists: Michael Mack, Brian Marquardt and Tracy Alton who will help match you with the right Vet. Employers wishing to take advantage of these services should contact Michael Mack at: (920) 448-6776 or Email him at: michael.mack@dwd.wisconsin.gov . Your taxes pay for these services. We want to be sure your money is well spent.
The Job Center provides individualized services to veterans through the LVER (Local Veterans Employment Representative) and DVOPs (Disabled Veterans Outreach Program). This includes Employment Assistance, priority access to new job orders, aptitude testing, career counseling, assistance with resumes and cover letters, employment workshops, referral to supportive services at the Job Center and to outside agencies.
